Learn to create a beautiful hollow form and transform it into a hinged locket with a hasp-style closure made from various types of silver PMC. Some of the techniques we examine will include pattern making, dry construction, rolling textures, hinges, cold-connection (riveting), hasp-style closure, and finishing.

    For this post-conference workshop, each participant will need to fill out my simple sign up form which will take you to a PayPal button.
    Please read the cancellation policy below before enrolling. The same rules apply to this class. You have the options to pay by credit card or through your own PayPal account. If you need another payment options, please write this in the comment box on the enrollment form.
Cancellation and Refund Policy:
  • All cancellations are subject to a 20% booking fee.
  • If reservations are cancelled at least 90 days before the class, 50% of class fee is refundable.
  • If cancelled less than 60 days before the class, 25% of fee is refundable.
  • For cancellations less than 45 days before the class, the fee is non-refundable.
    I will keep a waiting list; if a spot can be filled, the only charge will be the 20% booking fee.
    Items you need to bring are outlined in the next section below. NOTE: A Basic Tool Kit — $25 USD is available for purchase at the workshop if you don't want to bring the required tools. See last section for detail of the items included. Please indicate on the enrollment form if you plan to purchase a kit.
PMC Materials & Tools REQUIRED for this Workshop
PMC Materials You Will Need:
  • 45 grams (or more) PMC+ lump
  • PMC3 paste (not necessarily a full jar)
  • 9 gram PMC3
  • 1 sheept PMC+ Paper (any size for hinges and detailing)
  • PMC3 syringe (OPTIONAL*)
    NOTE: Limited quantities of PMC supplies (at current market prices) will be available for sale for those who forget something or need more. But we encourage you to bring your own PMC materials to this workshop.You will also need the tools in the basic tool kit which you can purchase from me or bring (See itemized list below).
Items You MUST BRING:
  • Pad — for notes and sketching.
  • Small covered container (e.g. Altoid tin) to protect work in transit.
  • Rubber-tipped blending tool (Kemper makes one with 2 tips—an angled chisel tip and a pointy tip.)
  • Watercolor Brush (#0-00), good quality.
    • Winsor Newton ia a good brand—just make sure the bristle maintain a sharp point when wet.
  • Larger Brush ( #2-3), moderate priced for utility work
Items You NEED If You're NOT BUYING A Basic Tool Kit:
  • One partial set of playing cards (18 cards)
  • One sharp, fine-point Needle Tool
  • Two emery boards,
    • 1 fine grit (pink or blue - 180/320 grit)
    • 1 medium grit (black - 80/100 grit)
  • One small, fine-mist spray bottle
    • (NOT a previously-used Fantastic or Windex bottle.)
  • One piece each of 400 grit and 600 grit sandpaper
  • One Styrene Work Surface (Bring: Styrene, Acrylic, or Teflon is fine.)
  • One Styrene Roller (Bring: Styrene, Acrylic, or Teflon is fine.)
  • One X-acto Knife with #11 Blade
  • One or more single edge razor blades
Optional Items You MIGHT BE GLAD TO HAVE:
    Bring if you like working with them. During the workshop, a limited number of the tools will be available to share.
  • Small scissors for cutting delicate shapes.
  • Jeweler’s saw frame along with some very fine blades
  • Steel block
  • A good hammer to flatten wire
  • Pin files: round, flat, and triangle
  • Riveting hammer
  • Assorted pliers: needle nose, chain nose, parallel pliers, flush cutters
  • A few wood or plastic clay modeling tools
  • Your favorite textures plates
  • Dental Tools
  • One 6” x 6” Teflon worksheet
  • Assortment of 3M sanding sponges
  • Opti-visor or magnifying glasses for close up work (if you need them)
